Two of the most successful teams in the history of the Pakistan Super League, who have also won the last three editions between them, will kickstart the 2025 edition as defending champion Islamabad United host Lahore Qalandars. This match #1 of PSL10 will be played at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Friday, April 11, with the match set to start at 8:30 pm IST.

Last season, these teams played twice and shared the honours. The match in Lahore ended in an eight-wicket win for Islamabad, but the Qalandars repaid in kind with a 17-run win at this venue.

Islamabad United are the most successful team in the history of this competition. They have won the title three times, including last year. Interestingly, they have made it to the playoffs in eight of the previous nine editions.
Last season, they finished third in the league phase with five wins and four losses. They proceeded to win against Quetta Gladiators, Peshawar Zalmi, and Multan Sultans to win the title.
For this year, they added the likes of Matthew Short, Riley Meredith, Jason Holder, and Ben Dwarshuis. Rassie van der Dussen could turn out to be an excellent addition.

Lahore Qalandars Form
The Qalandars are the only team to have won the PSL title twice in a row when they did so in the 2022 and 2023 editions. Apart from that, they reached the finals in 2020 but have failed to reach the playoffs in every other season.
Last year, the Qalandars were the worst team in the league, finishing with just one win from their ten matches. They were at least five points behind every other side.
So much has changed at the side since then, with Russell Domingo coaching the side. Daryll Mitchell, Sikandar Raza, Kusal Perera, Rishad Hossain, and Sam Billings are among the new additions.
